As of March 16, 2023, holders of driving licenses issued by the United Kingdom authorities who currently reside in Spain will be able to renew their driving license without problem.
The required documentation is the following:
- Official Traffic request for the exchange.
- Collated photocopy of the NIE/DNI, Passport and English Driving License.All documentation must be in force.
- Original Driving License.
- Payment of a fee
- Medical report.
- Photo check with photo of the driver.
- Verification Code: To obtain the verification code (Check Code) of the driving license, the interested party must access the following web pages:

If the permit has been issued by Northern Ireland (DVA) you must access the following address: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/view-or-share-your-driving-licence-information
